Obituary for Marshall Eugene Gifford

Marshall Eugene  Gifford
Bucksport- Marshall E. Gifford, 72, of Bucksport, went to be with the Lord on August 2, 2018. Born October 17, 1945 in Bucksport, he was the son of Leon E. and Zilla (Stubbs) Gifford Sr.
Marshall was a veteran of the United States Army and was active duty during the Vietnam War. Marshall drove truck for a living and spent 23 years driving for the Bucksport Highway Department. He will be remembered for his witty humor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and knitting in his spare time. He loved playing the guitar and for a time he offered lessons at the Jewett School. He was a member of the Penobscot Valley Kennel Club and a past member of the Bucksport Church of God.
Survivors include, his wife of 41 years, Jeanne of Bucksport, one daughter, Virginia Oakes and her husband Gerald of Bradley, their children, Keith and Kelsey, one step-daughter, Patricia A. “Coleman” McMurtrie of Madison, WI, her children, Rebecca McMurtrie-Baker, Faith Thomas, Elizabeth McMurtrie, Donald “DJ” McMurtrie, Katherine Ruffi, Grace Harper, Thomas McMurtrie, one sister, Marion Soper and her husband James of The Villages, FL, along with many special friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, 3 sisters, Ethel Beaucage, Jeannie O’Brien, Alice Lanpher, one brother, Leon Gifford Jr.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marshall’s memory to the Bucksport Animal Shelter, PO Box C-1, Bucksport, ME 04416 or to a charity of one’s choice.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, Aug. 10, 2018 from 3pm – 7pm at the Buck Mills Rod & Gun Club, Buck Mill Road, Bucksport, ME 04416. Arrangements are under the care of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, ME.
