On the 14th of October she married Fred R Doliber, Jr upon his return from his tour in the Navy. They lived in Stockton Springs for few years and moved to Searsport where they have lived on Norris St for the last 55 years. If you walked down Norris Street you would always be greeted by a “Hello” from a smiling Althea as she sat on the porch of their home. Sometimes people would stop and chat. It was a ritual, if you walked down to the wharf you met Althea on the way.
In the early years she enjoyed beach cookouts with the family on Sears Island. She was particularly fond of the frequent camping vacations with her husband going Down East and to Campobello Island.
Althea was an avid reader of paperback novels and there was not a crossword puzzle she couldn’t finish. She loved to listen to country music especially Hank Williams and Conway Twitty.
She took delight in the visits by her grandchildren and loved making blueberry muffins and brownies that would mysteriously disappear. She enjoyed many community activities and developed close friendship with her neighbors. If you knew her you will miss her.
Althea is predeceased by her parents and her stepfather Percy Thompson. She is survived by her husband of 70 years Fred R. Doliber, Jr currently of Westbrook, Maine, her son Fred B Doliber and his wife Carmen of Arundel, Maine, a daughter Karen E Doliber of Searsport soon to be Saco Maine as well as one granddaughter, three step grandchildren and seven step-great granddaughters and also by nieces, nephews and cousins.
