Obituary

Searsport- Rita Lynn Huddleston, 78, passed away unexpectedly on October 27th in Searsport. She was born on December 21, 1940 in Pine Bluff, AR to Fred and Sybil Box.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Bruce, her daughter, Lisa Huffman, her brother, Richard Box and her parents.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Laura Whiteside, son-in-law Tracy, son Brent Huddleston, nephew Stoney Box and his mother Many Box of Rogers, AR and great-nephew Seth Box of Valdez, AK. Rita had three amazing grandchildren which she adored. Tate Whiteside and Haley Huffman of Little Rock, Darby Harrell (Michael) and three great-grandchildren, Lucah, Ruby and Maude Harrell of Jenks, OK.
Rita and Bruce split their time living in Searsport and Little Rock, AR for the last 30 plus years. Rita was a people person and had many lifelong friends that she loved very much. She was always going out to lunch, bridge or parties and had an active social calendar. Rita was our “Martha Stewart.” She was an amazing decorator and party planner. All of our family holiday gatherings were made very special because each one had a theme and she would go all out in the decorating and each year, the theme would be different. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved to work jigsaw puzzles and her love of Dr. Pepper was known by all that knew her. She loved to garden and always had beautiful flowers that she enjoyed taking care of. She was an amazing painter, artist, writer and especially great at crafts. She was well known for all the amazing things she created and known for her Santa’s.
Rita left us way too soon and will be missed greatly by all that knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers donations in Rita’s memory may be made to your favorite charity or to the JDRF, Arkansas Chapter 11324 Arcade Dr. #16, Little Rock, AR 72212.
A memorial service is planned for 10am, Friday, November 8, 2019 at Young Funeral Home 31 West Main St. Searsport. A reception following the service will take place at her home “Old Glory Inn” on Rt 1. www.mitchelltweedie-young.com

We are so very sad to lose a beautiful, talented and loyal friend. What joy she brought to all her friends with her wonderful ideas, quick wit, and generous hospitality. Halloween at their house was truly something special; a wonderful gathering of friends over a delicious buffet, unbelievable decorations, theme based costumes and riotous games. We have 30+ years of wonderful memories with this spectacular woman and her husband. We will miss her deeply, but we will never forget her.
